Why are we called the True Jesus Church?

A name is often an expression of the meaning and substance of something. The name “True Jesus Church” might sound unconvincing or cause misunderstanding that it is out of pride or narrow-mindedness. Of course, this is a preconception, but if we are willing to explore deeper, we can understand what is in this name and that it is Biblical.

“True” refers to God, and God is “true” (Romans 3:4). Jesus come to Earth to witness God’s truth, so He said: “I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me” (John 7:28-29). The Lord Jesus used the word “true” to refer to God, that is to say, God is not a false dream but a real thing, and when He will be revealed to us, we shall see Him as He is (1 John 3:2). Therefore, the “True” refers to God Himself. The manifestation of truth is our Lord Jesus Christ. There is another “true” about Jesus. Jesus said: “He who sent Me is true” and “I am from Him”. These phrases explain the relationship between Jesus and the heavenly Father. Jesus “who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond-servant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:6-8). The mystery of God is Jesus Christ (Ezekiel 2:2) Through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 3:10). The “True” refers to the God almighty and to His sovereignty, His salvation for mankind surpasses all understanding and can never be held back. Why is the word “True” used instead of God? Because "in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Ezekiel 2:9), only by the manifestation of His only begotten Son, can the truth of God be specifically manifested. Because Jesus is the radiance of God's glory, He is the express image of God’s body. Therefore, be "in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 5:20). Dwell in the Son, and you shall dwell in the Father (1 John 2:23-24). Jesus and the Father are one (John 10 30). The "True God" that Jesus manifested is the true God manifesting in the flesh the great mystery (1 Timothy 3:16).

The Church is where God put His Name there for His dwelling; God is within the church, and so is the glory of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:21). What is the name of God? His name is Jesus. Therefore, the “True Jesus Church” is the Church of God. This name not only indicates the truth of God and Jesus, but also that the Church is the dwelling of God’s name.
